A dog with an allergy gets the same diet at the kennel as at home. The way to make that happen is to bring the food and write the rules down.
Bring the food your dog already eats
The house menu is grain-free kibble and wet food, plus eggs, hot dogs and treats. A dog with a food allergy is better off with the home diet, so pack it in the original bag, enough for the whole stay plus a bit extra, with amounts in cups. Own food is welcome at no charge.
Write the allergy down
The agreement asks for allergies and health conditions for each pet, along with feeding times, the amount in cups and the brand. Be specific: name the ingredient, say whether it causes itching, stomach upset or both, and list any treat that must be avoided.
Treats and extras
Treats are part of the day at the kennel, and so are optional extras such as a Happy Pup Cup, a Happy Lick Mat in peanut butter or cheese, or a Happy Pupsicle in beef or chicken. If your dog reacts to dairy, peanut butter, beef or chicken, say so before any treat is added to the stay. Staying on your own food and skipping extras is always an option.
What happens at a meal
The staff measure each meal from your written instructions, so a clear card or a filled-out form lets everyone on the team feed the same way. For a pet with a medical condition, read about medications and health too.
Check in before you book
If the allergy is severe or you are unsure, call 707-678-6600 or tour any day from 9 to 11 AM or 2 to 4 PM without an appointment and talk it through with a staff member.
