Holiday deposits surprise people because the window is wider than the holiday itself. The checker does the date counting for you; this page explains the rule behind it.
The rule
The 2026 rate sheet applies the deposit to reservations beginning seven days prior to a major holiday through seven days after it. It gives an example: a stay beginning on the 10th with a holiday on the 17th owes a deposit. The deposit is 50 percent, non-refundable, due 30 days in advance.
If you cancel at least 7 days ahead, the deposit becomes a 100 percent credit on your account. If you cancel with less notice, it is forfeited.
Which holidays count
The sheet does not list them. The checker assumes the days the kennel closes all day: New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. That is why every result ends with a request to call.
Why the answer is hedged
An older note on the rates page describes the deposit for any reservation that includes a day inside the window, which is broader than the sheet's wording about stays that begin inside it. When the dates fall near the edge, the checker says a deposit is likely due and asks you to call, rather than guess.
