Spring break boarding
Spring break dates differ between school districts and UC Davis, so start with your own calendar. In 2027 Easter falls on March 28 and Happy Paws is closed that Sunday; any stay that begins March 21 through April 4 needs a 50% holiday deposit.
Spring break is the first big travel week of the year after the winter holidays, and it often overlaps with Easter. The overlap decides whether you owe a deposit.
Find your dates first
Dixon, Davis and Vacaville each have their own school calendar, and spring break is set by each district, not by the kennel. Check your district's published calendar before you buy tickets. UC Davis lists spring break for 2027 as March 20 to 24, between winter quarter finals and the start of spring quarter, so students, faculty and families tied to the campus travel that week.
A stay that begins March 21 to April 4, 2027 needs the Easter deposit on the 2026 sheet. If your stay starts earlier but runs into that window, call 707-678-6600 to confirm.

Budget the week
A week is seven nights. One dog in a Business Class kennel is 7 x $59, which is $413 on the 2026 rates. Two dogs who share a kennel pay $59 plus $50 each night. A cat condo is $35 a night, or $245 for seven. A stay of 14 nights or more drops a Business Class dog to the long-term rate of $53. The stay estimator works through each option.
Book before you buy flights
Reservations are requests until the kennel confirms them, so send the request first and confirm it before locking in non-refundable travel. Upload vaccine records at the same time. Canine influenza needs its booster three to four weeks after the first dose, and records must stay valid through your last day, so a spring trip means checking dates in February.
