Kennel & pet-care glossary

Boarding paperwork uses words that are clear to staff and puzzling to owners. A check-out time, a half-day charge and a titer test all mean something specific.
Terms about the stay
These cover the practical words: indoor/outdoor run, kennel class, shared kennel, check-out time, half-day charge, long-term rate, military rate and holiday deposit. Check-out is by 11:30 AM; an afternoon pick-up adds half the nightly fee. The holiday deposit is 50 percent, due 30 days ahead.
Terms about paperwork
The boarding agreement, medical release, photo release, emergency contact and abandoned-pet clause all come from the agreement signed once by every customer. The glossary explains each in plain language without repeating the legal text.
Vaccine and health terms
Bordetella, DHPP, FVRCP, canine influenza, leptospirosis, CIRDC, rabies certificate and titer test are the terms you will see on a vet record. Dogs need rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza; cats need rabies and FVRCP.
Coats, gear and treats
Double coat, undercoat, brachycephalic, Kuranda bed, slow feeder, prong collar, lick mat and pup cup explain breeds, bedding and extras. A Happy Pup Cup is $4.99 on the 2026 rates.
Military terms
PCS and TDY are military travel terms that matter for boarding, because they decide how long a pet stays.
