AKC lists the Borzoi as a calm, agreeable dog that can reach 35 to 40 miles per hour in full stride. Calm and fast: it is a dog that sleeps all day and sprints in short bursts.
Tall, narrow, and a bed
A Borzoi is tall and deep chested but narrow, so Business Class holds one comfortably, with about 30 square feet inside plus 60 outside. A big male near 105 pounds may prefer First Class at $72. The Kuranda bed suits a dog with prominent hip bones.
Silky coat, three possible cells
The coat is silky and medium in length, with feathering on the chest, legs and tail. A female at 60 to 75 pounds is $50 on the chart, a male at 76 to 100 pounds is $55, and a rare male over 100 is $75. AKC puts shedding at 3 of 5. Please ask to confirm.
Sprinter
Energy is 4 of 5, but the pattern is a burst and a nap. The large fenced play areas and the grass field give a sighthound room to run. Walks are included, and the fence matters more than the distance.
Warm days
The NOAA Vacaville normals show a July average high of 97 degrees. A lean borzoi cools faster than a stocky dog, but the silky coat holds heat, so use the air-conditioned inside half at midday.
Cost
Business Class is $59 a night on the 2026 rates, so five nights is 5 x $59. At 14 nights or more it is $53, and two borzoi from one home are $59 plus $50.
Fences and sighthounds
Sighthounds chase what moves, so a sound fence matters. The play areas are large and fenced, and walks are on a leash. Mention on the form if your Borzoi reacts to small animals or fast movement. Tours run every day, 9 to 11 AM and 2 to 4 PM, no appointment. Check-out is by 11:30 AM, and an afternoon pick-up is half of the nightly fee.
Records and booking
Rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza records must be good through the last day. Request a stay or call 707-678-6600.
