This is the one breed on the list that comes in two coats. The standard recognizes a hairless variety and a coated one, so the first thing to tell the kennel is which one is coming.
Two varieties, one kennel size
The standard puts the ideal height at 12 to 16 inches with a body slightly longer than tall. Either variety fits Economy, about 16 square feet inside plus 48 outside. Two terriers from the same home share it for $52 plus $44. The kennel adds nothing for the hairless variety; the rate is the same $52 a night.
The coat question and the bath cell
The coated variety has a short, smooth, dense coat with a sheen, and the standard keeps the whiskers. The hairless variety is born with a soft vestigial down that fades. Both belong with the lightest coats, so the Extra Short column on the bath chart effective January 1, 2024 is the closest match: $20, $30 or $35 depending on whether your dog is 15 pounds or less, 16 to 25 or 26 to 50. Please ask to confirm the column and the price.
Skin without a coat
A dog with little or no hair has nothing between the skin and the weather. The runs are heated in winter, and each has a Kuranda bed and blankets for burrowing, so cold nights are covered. In summer the NOAA Vacaville station (1991-2020 normals) records about 100 days a year at 90 degrees or more, and the sun is strong on bare skin. Plan the day around the air-conditioned inside half, with the outside run for the cooler hours. Your dog chooses through the doggie door. If your dog wears a coat or sweater at home, tell the staff.
Energetic, alert and curious
The AKC describes the breed as smart, inquisitive and playful, and the standard calls it energetic, alert, curious and intelligent. Walks are included in the nightly rate and the large fenced play areas give a terrier room to chase. Pack one toy that is not the favorite.
Costs and paperwork
Four nights in Economy is 4 x $52 = $208 on the 2026 rates, and 14 nights or more is $47 a night. Records for rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza must be good through the last day.
