Mother's Day weekend boarding

May is the month the Central Valley warms up and travel picks up. A Mother's Day getaway is a short stay with no holiday paperwork.

The weekend at a glance

Because Sunday is open, you can drop off a pet before an early flight and pick up the same weekend.

• Friday, May 7: regular hours.
• Saturday, May 8: regular hours.
• Sunday, May 9, Mother's Day: regular hours, 7:30 to 11:30 AM and 2:00 to 5:00 PM.
• Monday, May 10: regular hours.

Deposit timing

Mother's Day is not one of the days the kennel closes for, and the deposit windows in the research are built on those closure days. The nearest is Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2027, with a window for stays beginning May 24 through June 7. A stay that begins on Friday, May 7 is more than two weeks before it, so the 2026 sheet does not call for a deposit. A three-night example

A cat in the cattery from Friday, May 7 to Monday, May 10 is three nights at $35, 3 x $35 = $105. A dog in Economy for the same three nights is 3 x $52 = $156, and in First Class 3 x $72 = $216, on the 2026 rates. Check-out is by 11:30 AM Monday; an afternoon pick-up adds half the nightly fee. Day care for the day itself

If you only need the pet looked after for the day, dog day care is $38 a day and cat day care is $25, on the 2026 rates, with hourly care at $7 an hour up to $38. See cat day care for the cattery side.

May weather

NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Vacaville, about 8 miles from the kennel, show May highs near 82.8 degrees and lows near 52.9. The station averages about 8 days a year in May at 90 degrees or higher and about 1 at 100. Every run is air-conditioned in summer, and the indoor room is a doggie door away from the yard, so a dog can come in from the afternoon sun.

4. Leave the pet in the car at check-in; staff carry in belongings and walk the pet.
