Our kennel sizes compared
Happy Paws Kennels has three dog kennel sizes: Economy at 4x4 feet inside, Business Class at 5x6 and First Class at 6x8, each with its own outdoor run. Inside and outside together, that is about 64, 90 and 120 square feet.
Every run is indoor and outdoor, and a dog chooses between them through a doggie door. This table puts the three sizes side by side.

How to read the table
Interior is the size on the 2026 rate sheet, in feet. Inside and outside are the approximate square feet from the facility page. The last column is the 2026 rate for one dog per night. The kennel suggests several small or medium dogs or one large dog in Economy, a pair of large dogs or a dog who does not like to share in Business Class, and extra large dogs, two or three large dogs, or a whole litter of Chihuahuas in First Class.
What is in each run
All runs have a Kuranda bed and blankets, heat in winter and air conditioning in summer. Dogs see neighbors through the fence but have their own space. The original 1971 building holds the Economy runs, and the building that opened on October 5, 2022 holds First Class and Business Class runs, 10 and 40 of them. Read more on the tour page.
Method
Sizes come from the kennel's facility page and the interior sizes from the 2026 rate sheet, read on October 19, 2026. The approximate square footage is the kennel's own. We did not measure the runs. Add inside and outside for the total space a dog can use.
Choosing
A bigger dog is not always better off in a bigger kennel, since some dogs like a snug sleeping spot. The kennel class finder and the guide on choosing a kennel class help you decide, and the staff are glad to talk it through on a tour any day between 9 and 11 AM or 2 and 4 PM.

Economy is 4x4 feet inside, about 16 square feet, with about 48 square feet outside.
Can two dogs share a kennel?
Yes, dogs from the same household can share at a lower rate for each additional dog on the 2026 rates.

Send your dates and pets and the kennel will get back to you. Holiday stays need a 50% deposit 30 days before drop-off, so ask early.
