A GWP is built to beat the bushes all day. The AKC quotes an owner who says the breed will not be happy on the couch all day.
Outdoor dog, indoor-outdoor run
At 50 to 70 pounds and up to 26 inches, a GWP fits Business Class, 5x6 ft at $59 a night. The run's doggie door suits a dog who wants to be outside.
Coat and baths
Harsh, wiry, double coat with a shaggy beard, per the AKC, and regular shedding. It is a weatherproof coat for thorny underbrush. On the bath chart effective January 1, 2024, the medium column is $45 at 26 to 50 pounds and $50 at 51 to 75; please ask to confirm.
Independent, inquisitive and sporty
The AKC says the need for running in the great outdoors is a must, and that GWPs are bright and eager but independent and inquisitive. The grass field and large fenced play areas fit the breed, along with the included walks. For more activity, the additional picture play session is $14.99 per kennel.
Heat, cold and the run
A GWP holds up better to cold than heat. The runs are heated in winter. In summer, outside time belongs to early mornings and evenings, with the air-conditioned inside side for the middle of the day.
Planning exercise around the stay
A GWP that has been in a hunting season, a long hike weekend or an agility class will take the rest of the stay as a bonus. Bring his food in the original bag with amounts in cups. Kuranda beds and blankets come with every run.
Rates and timing
Business Class at $59 a night works out to 5 x $59 = $295 for five nights on the 2026 rates. Check-out is by 11:30 AM; an afternoon pick-up costs half the nightly fee.
Tours before you book
Tours run every day from 9 to 11 AM and 2 to 4 PM, with no appointment, and a staff member walks with you. A GWP owner can see the grass field and fenced play areas first and judge whether they suit an active dog.
