Dalmatians were coach dogs with stamina to match a team of horses. They like to run, and they notice who is around.
A spotted runner in a Business Class run
At 45 to 70 pounds and 19 to 24 inches, a Dalmatian fits Business Class, 5x6 ft at $59 a night. Economy at $52 is possible for a smaller dog.
Coat and baths
Short and smooth, with frequent shedding according to the AKC characteristics. Short white hair sticks to blankets, and a bath before pick-up is an option. The bath chart effective January 1, 2024 lists a short coat at $40 for 26 to 50 pounds and $45 for 51 to 75. Please ask to confirm.
Strong, active athletes with stamina
The AKC calls Dals strong, active athletes with great stamina and a wonderful partner for runners and hikers. They are bright, loyal and loving with their people and can be aloof with strangers. At check-in a calm introduction helps. Daily walks and the fenced play areas are a good outlet.
Heat, cold and the run
A short single layer of coat gives little cover. The heated runs in winter and the blankets help, and in summer the air-conditioned inside run is a refuge. Near Dixon about 28 days a year hit 100 degrees or more, and a Dal on those days is best indoors.
Vaccines and health records
Every dog needs rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza on file, good through the last day. The canine flu vaccine is accepted after the first dose, with the booster 3 to 4 weeks later. Leptospirosis, heartworm and flea prevention are recommended.
Sharing
Two Dalmatians from one home can share Business Class at $59 and $50 a night.
Rates and hours
Business Class is $59 a night on the 2026 rates, and a stay of 14 nights or more drops to $53, so 14 nights is 14 x $53 = $742. Drop-off and pick-up run every day from 7:30 to 11:30 AM and 2:00 to 5:00 PM, closed from 11:30 to 2:00. The kennel is closed all day on the major holidays, so check the dates if you are traveling then.
