A Himalayan is a Persian with colorpoint markings. It has the same round face, the same placid nature and the same coat to look after.
A pointed Persian
The CFA lists Himalayans as one of the seven divisions of the Persian, the ones with the pointed pattern. They share the Persian type: solidly built, broad-chested, a long full coat and a short nose. One cat is $35 a night on the 2026 rates, with its own tower, litter box and blanket.
Size and build
The CFA says Persians, the Himalayan division included, are solidly built with a broad chest and a muscular body in the cobby type, with short heavy legs, a short plumed tail, small ears and large round eyes. A cobby cat does less climbing than a rangy one, so it will use a lower shelf of the tower.
The coat deserves attention
The CFA says owning a Persian calls for a serious commitment to coat care and that a steel comb with long, coarse and fine teeth is essential. A thorough comb the day before drop-off matters more than anything else you can do. Tell the staff about any mats.
Eyes and breathing
The CFA notes that the large eyes may stain and need a soft, damp cloth. The short nose is part of the look. Mention any eye, nose or breathing issue when you book, and list medications, which are given at no extra charge.
What a stay costs
Five nights for one Himalayan is 5 x $35 = $175 on the 2026 rates. A second cat from the same home is 5 x $30 = $150. Please list any eye care or medicine when you book.
A mellow companion
The CFA says Persians are playful yet placid, prefer to keep their feet on the ground and combine a calm personality with devotion to people. Plan a short stay with a familiar blanket. Rabies and FVRCP must be current through the last day.
Drop-off and pick-up
Drop-off and pick-up are every day from 7:30 to 11:30 AM and 2:00 to 5:00 PM, with check-out by 11:30 AM. A calm cat does best with a quiet hand-off, so book the morning window if your Himalayan gets anxious later in the day.
