The AKC says an Australian Cattle Dog with nothing to do will find something. A stay is mostly about giving that mind a job.
Compact body, huge work drive
At 35 to 50 pounds, a Cattle Dog fits Economy (4x4 ft, $52 a night). Business Class at $59 is a roomier choice for a dog who paces. Two Heelers from one home share well, and the second is $44 in Economy.
Coat and baths
Short, smooth and double, shedding regularly according to the AKC characteristics. On the bath chart effective January 1, 2024, the short column is $40 at 26 to 50 pounds, and the double coated column is $55. Please ask to confirm which fits.
Boundless energy, boundless brain
The AKC says ACDs have immense work drive, boundless energy and, if not challenged, become bored and get into mischief. The kennel answer is variety. Walks are included, the large fenced play areas and grass field give room, and a Happy Lick Mat ($4.99) or Happy Pupsicle ($7.99) can keep a busy mouth occupied. Tell the front desk about favorite games.
Heat, cold and the run
A short double coat handles sun, but a dog with this work drive will not rest in the heat. The air-conditioned inside run gives a Cattle Dog a place to cool down, and a quiet spot between walks matters.
Giving a Heeler something to do
Walks are included. Beyond those, the Happy Lick Mat ($4.99) and Happy Pupsicle ($7.99) are treats that take time to finish, and an additional picture play session is $14.99 per kennel. Say which your dog prefers on the request.
Pair of Heelers
Two Cattle Dogs from the same home can share Economy at $52 and $44, or Business Class at $59 and $50. If one of them is a pacer, the larger run has more room.
Vaccines and fleas
Heelers love the outdoors, so arrive flea and tick free; otherwise the dog is bathed at the owner's cost. Rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza are required and must stay valid through the last day of the stay. Leptospirosis, heartworm and flea prevention are recommended.
