A Pom is about a quarter of a loaf of bread in weight and a lot bigger in attitude. AKC calls the breed vivacious, foxy-faced and smiling, a toy breed with a coat that looks much bigger than the dog.
A tiny dog in a small run
AKC lists 6 to 7 inches tall and 3 to 7 pounds. Economy's 4x4 ft interior is plenty, and a Kuranda bed lifts the dog off the floor. Two Poms from one home share Economy for $52 plus $44.
Coat and bath cell
The coat is a soft, dense undercoat under a long, harsh outer coat that stands off the body. For a dog under 15 pounds the chart shows $35 in the Double Coated column. AKC rates shedding at 2 of 5. Please ask to confirm the price, especially if your Pom has a short clip.
Fluff does not mean heat-proof
Dixon's July highs reach about 97 degrees in the NOAA normals for Vacaville, and a double-coated toy dog can overheat. The inside half of the run is air-conditioned. Shaving is not needed.
Big voice, small body
Energy is 3 of 5. A Pom may bark at everything from a bird to a passing truck, which is normal. Staff pick a small dog up on hot pavement. Bring one toy, not the favorite.
At check-in
Leave your Pom in the car and staff will carry the bag and bring him in. A harness is fine; remove any metal pinch (prong) collar. Mention if he is a barker or a nipper when handled.
Play and nerves
A Pomeranian can be bossy toward larger dogs. Each dog has a private run, so there is no forced mixing, and the staff pay attention to temperament.
What a stay costs
A 3-night stay in Economy is 3 x $52 on the 2026 rates. A second dog from the same home is $44, and 14 nights or more is $47 a night; active military families pay that same reduced rate (the rate sheet does not list the two as combining; call 707-678-6600 to confirm).
Food and paperwork
Small dogs eat small amounts, so write the cups or fractions on the form. Your own food is welcome in its original bag, and the house food is free. Rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza records must be good through the last day, and your dog should be 16 weeks or older before the first day.
