AKC calls the Cocker merry and frolicsome, with big dreamy eyes and an impish personality, developed as a hunting dog and loved as an all-around companion.
Economy size
Males are 14.5 to 15.5 inches and 25 to 30 pounds, females 13.5 to 14.5 and 20 to 25. A Cocker fits Economy easily. Two Cockers from one home share for $52 plus $44.
Silky coat, long ears
The silky coat has feathering on the ears, chest, belly and legs. Ears dip into the water bowl and food, and a bath at the end of a longer stay helps. AKC puts shedding at 3 of 5. The cell depends on weight and coat length; ask for the price.
Merry and active
Energy is 4 of 5. Cockers love a game, and the fenced play areas fit. Walks are included.
Heat
A July day near Dixon has an average high of 97 degrees at Vacaville (NOAA). A feathered coat is heavy, so the air-conditioned inside half is the better place at midday.
Ears and eyes
Cockers often have ear or eye routines. Write them on the form with times and amounts, and bring any drops; medications are given at no extra charge.
Treats
The house menu includes treats, farm-fresh eggs and hot dogs. If your Cocker is on a limited-ingredient diet, say so and send the food in its original bag.
What a stay costs
A 4-night stay in Economy is 4 x $52 on the 2026 rates. A second dog from the same home is $44, and 14 nights or more is $47 a night; active military families pay that same reduced rate (the rate sheet does not list the two as combining; call 707-678-6600 to confirm).
Settling in
A Cocker that wants a lap will find the staff friendly, and a note about favorite spots to be scratched helps.
Food and records
Cockers can have skin or ear troubles tied to food. Send your food in the original bag with cups written down. Medications are given at no extra charge. Rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza records must be good through the last day, and your dog should be 16 weeks or older before the first day.
