The AKC nickname is The American Gentleman, for tuxedo markings and good manners. A Boston has a short muzzle, so the stay is built around staying cool.
Economy fits
AKC lists 10 to 12 inches and 12 to 25 pounds. That is a compact, square dog, and Economy gives about 16 square feet inside and 48 outside. Two Bostons from one home share Economy for $52 plus $44.
Tuxedo coat
The coat is short, smooth and fine. Shedding is 2 of 5 by AKC. A lighter Boston at 15 pounds or less is $20 in Extra Short or $25 in Short; a heavier one is $30 or $35. Ask to confirm.
Flat-faced, so cool first
A short nose means a Boston cools by panting less well than a long-nosed dog. About 28 days a year reach 100 degrees at nearby Vacaville, so the air-conditioned inside half of the run is the place for midday. Walks are better early or late. Our page on flat-faced dogs in the heat covers the signs of trouble.
Lively and eager
AKC rates energy at 4 of 5. Bostons are playful and bounce, so the fenced play areas are a good fit. The doggie door lets yours move between a cool inside and an outside spot.
Tell us at drop-off
Mention snoring, any history of breathing trouble and how your dog eats. Boston Terriers can gulp air with food, so a slow-feeder bowl from home is welcome.
Eyes and skin
Large round eyes pick up dust and grass seed. If your Boston needs eye drops or wipes, say so; medications are given at no extra charge.
What a stay costs
A 4-night stay in Economy is 4 x $52 on the 2026 rates. A second dog from the same home is $44, and 14 nights or more is $47 a night; active military families pay that same reduced rate (the rate sheet does not list the two as combining; call 707-678-6600 to confirm).
Records
Rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza records must be good through the last day, and your dog should be 16 weeks or older before the first day. Medications, including allergy tablets, are given at no extra charge.
