AKC calls the Maltese playful, charming and adaptable, famous for its show-stopping, floor-length coat. A white coat shows everything, so the stay plan is mostly about keeping it clean.
Economy
At 7 to 9 inches and under 7 pounds, a Maltese needs little space. Two from one home share Economy for $52 plus $44.
White, long coat
AKC rates shedding at 1 of 5, the lowest. The coat has no undercoat but tangles and stains. A bath can be booked near the end of the stay. $35 Extra Long, or $30 Medium for a clip. Please ask to confirm.
Gentle handling
Leave your Maltese in the car at check-in and the staff will bring him in; they scoop small dogs across hot pavement. Bring one toy, not the favorite.
Temperature
A toy dog chills in winter and tires in summer. Runs are heated in winter, with blankets, and air-conditioned in summer; the normal July high near Dixon is about 97 degrees (NOAA, Vacaville). Energy is 3 of 5, so walks and a little play suffice.
Tear stains and tangles
Wipe the face and brush the coat the day before. A white coat shows stains, and a bath before pick-up helps.
Tiny dog, careful hands
Staff carry small dogs across hot pavement and hand them to you at pick-up.
What a stay costs
A 3-night stay in Economy is 3 x $52 on the 2026 rates. A second dog from the same home is $44, and 14 nights or more is $47 a night; active military families pay that same reduced rate (the rate sheet does not list the two as combining; call 707-678-6600 to confirm).
Booking and hours
Drop-off and pick-up are every day, 7:30 to 11:30 AM and 2 to 5 PM. Check-out is by 11:30 AM, and an afternoon pick-up is half the nightly fee. Request a stay online through Book / My Account or call 707-678-6600.
