The Giant is a much bigger dog than the Miniature Schnauzer, at 23 to 27 inches rather than 12 to 14. AKC calls the breed bold and valiant, with great intelligence and loyalty.
Size sets the run
Males stand 25.5 to 27.5 inches and females 23.5 to 25.5. A Mini fits Economy, but a Giant needs real floor space, and Business Class gives about 30 square feet inside plus 60 outside. A big male near 95 pounds who sprawls may like First Class at $72.
Wiry double coat
The hard, wiry outer coat sits over a soft undercoat, and the beard picks up water and food all week. Shedding is low, 2 of 5 on the AKC scale. On the 2024 chart, Double Coated is $65 for a 51 to 75 pound female and $75 for a male in the 76 to 100 row. Please ask to confirm.
A working dog's energy
AKC rates energy at 5 of 5, the top of the scale. Giants were bred to drive cattle and guard property, and a dog like that benefits from the large fenced play areas and the grass field. Walks are included in the nightly rate.
Summer days
The NOAA Vacaville station (1991-2020 normals) shows about 100 days a year at 90 degrees or more, with a July average high of 97. A dark, dense coat soaks up sun, so the air-conditioned inside half of the run is the place to nap.
What a stay costs
Business Class is $59 a night on the 2026 rates; a week is 7 x $59. Stays of 14 nights or more are $53 a night, and a second dog from your home is $50. Military families pay about 10 percent off, the same reduced rate as long stays.
Food, records, booking
Send your dog's food in the original bag with cups written down, or use the house grain-free kibble at no charge. Rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza records must be good through the last day. Request a stay online or call 707-678-6600.
