The Sphynx is the nearly hairless cat. That makes warmth, soft bedding and company the three things to think about before a stay.
Warmth first
The CFA says Sphynx are body heat magnets that spend hours glued to your side. In a cattery, the blanket in the tower is the substitute. Each cat has its own blanket, and you can bring a familiar one from home. Tell the staff if your cat gets cold easily. One cat is $35 a night on the 2026 rates.
Size and build
The CFA describes the Sphynx as a medium-sized, substantial cat with sturdy bones, visible wrinkles, a large rounded belly, lemon-shaped eyes, bat-like ears and thick paw pads with long toes. It is not fragile. Males are usually larger than females. Rough play is the issue for the skin, so expect staff to handle your cat gently.
Skin and the coat that is not quite absent
The CFA says the breed is not always totally hairless, that some short hair is usually present on the nose, ears and tail, and that the skin is oily. It also says the skin is delicate. List any skin condition or medication when you book, since medications are given at no extra charge.
A cat that needs company
The CFA says the Sphynx is curious, outgoing and anything but shy, keeps up a steady chatter, and thrives on the companionship of other cats, especially other Sphynx. It does not do well if left alone for long. Short stays suit it best. Two Sphynx from one home can share a tower, and the second cat is $30 a night.
What a stay costs
Five nights for one Sphynx is 5 x $35 = $175 on the 2026 rates. A second Sphynx from the same home sharing the tower is 5 x $30 = $150. Cat day care is $25 and is a short, easy way to check how your cat feels about the cattery.
Preparing for a stay
Rabies and FVRCP records must be current through the last day. The house food is pate plus chicken-and-rice kibble at no charge, and your own food is welcome in its original bag. Upload your records ahead of time and put in a booking request; the kennel confirms every reservation.
