The CFA says an Abyssinian will find its own entertainment if the toys run out. For a stay, height and variety matter more than space.
Perches and levels
The CFA says Abys are fond of high places and should be offered perches from which to survey their domains. A cattery tower with four levels is just that. Each cat has its own litter box and blanket, and the cattery also has a cat tree and cat houses. One Aby is $35 a night on the 2026 rates.
Size and build
The CFA describes a medium-sized shorthair with a beautifully arched neck and a lithe yet muscular feel, standing as if on tip-toe, with large cupped ears and almond-shaped eyes. The coat is ticked, with bands of color on each hair, in ruddy, cinnamon, blue and fawn. A lithe cat like this will use the top shelf of its tower.
Always moving
The CFA calls the breed sociable, super-inquisitive and one of the most intelligent, extremely active and playful, and constantly on the move unless asleep. A stay with no routine can feel long to a cat like that. Bring one toy from home. Cat day care at $25 is a way to try a visit before an overnight.
Coat care is easy
The CFA says Abyssinians need very little coat care and should be combed or brushed a few times a month to control shedding. A chamois rub gives the coat a sheen. A short comb before arrival is enough.
What a stay costs
Six nights for one Abyssinian is 6 x $35 = $210 on the 2026 rates. Two Abys from one home pay $35 plus $30 a night. Cat day care is $25, handy for a cat that wants to test the place first.
Company and records
The CFA says Abys do not like to be left alone for long. Two cats from one home can share a tower, and the second is $30 a night. Rabies and FVRCP records must be current through the last day. Medications are given at no extra charge.
