Hungarian herder, corkscrew curls, upright ears folded forward. A Pumi's coat takes more thought than its size, because the AKC advises against a blow-dryer.
Curls that go back with water
The AKC says the coat is half soft hair and half harsher hair, all the same length, that does not shed but sheds hair during brushing sessions. It needs combing every three to six weeks, followed by a good wetting-down to let the curls re-form. The AKC says a blow-dryer is not recommended because it removes the curls. So the chart reading is medium, $40 at 16 to 25 pounds and $45 at 26 to 50, effective January 1, 2024. Please ask to confirm, and tell the front desk how your Pumi is usually dried.
Intelligent, agile and climbing
The AKC describes a very intelligent, energetic dog that needs regular exercise and mental stimulation, will climb over and under things and likes high places. Tennis balls and flying discs are favorite toys, and a Pumi will ask for a chase-and-fetch game. The grass field and the large fenced play areas fit that, and walks are included.
Sexes land in different bath rows
A female Pumi at 22 to 24 pounds is a 16 to 25 pound dog on the chart, and a male at 27 to 29 pounds is a 26 to 50 pound dog, but both are Economy dogs at $52 a night. Two from the same home share for $52 and $44.
What 13 nights adds up to
For 13 nights, one Pumi in Economy (4x4 ft) is 13 x $52 = $676 on the 2026 rates. A second dog from your home sharing the run is $44 a night, and from 14 nights the rate drops to $47.
Military families pay that same reduced rate, about 10 percent off; the sheet does not list the two as combining, so call 707-678-6600 to confirm. The balance is due at pick-up, and check-out is by 11:30 AM.
Curious, with a doggie door
A climber likes a vantage point, and the runs have Kuranda beds that raise a dog off the floor. One toy from home is welcome, but not the favorite one. Dixon's summers run to about 100 days a year at 90 degrees or more by the NOAA Vacaville normals, and the inside half of the run is air-conditioned.
