Sleek, tan and amber-eyed, the Pharaoh Hound is a hunting sighthound with no feathering and not much padding. The standard calls it lithe, and its stay is mostly about space and warmth.
Light but long-legged
The AKC gives dogs 23 to 25 inches and bitches 21 to 24, at 45 to 55 pounds. A dog built like that needs room to stand and stretch, so Business Class is the usual choice: about 30 square feet inside plus 60 outside, $59 a night. A pair that live together can share a First Class run for $72 and $61.
Short and glossy
The coat is short and glossy, from fine and close to slightly harsh, without feathering. The AKC lists tan or chestnut with a white tip on the tail, a white chest star and white toes. On the bath chart effective January 1, 2024, a short coat is $40 at 26 to 50 pounds and $45 at 51 to 75, so a Pharaoh at the heavier end of its range moves up a cell. Please ask to confirm.
Sprinters
A coursing hound works in short bursts at high speed. The large fenced play areas and the grass field are where that goes, and walks are included in the nightly rate. Fenced yards matter with a dog that can leap, so mention a habit of jumping when you drop off.
Thin coat, thin padding
A short coat and a low body-fat build mean a chilly morning feels cold. Each run has a Kuranda bed and blankets, and the runs are heated in winter. In summer the air-conditioned side stays comfortable, and your hound chooses through the doggie door.
Next steps
Bring rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza records that stay valid through the last day. Medications are given at no extra charge, and check-out is by 11:30 AM; afternoon pick-up is half of the nightly fee. Compare the Ibizan Hound, the Basenji and the Whippet.
