Giant breeds need floor space, soft footing and a cool place to lie, in that order.
Why First Class
The kennel describes First Class as 6x8 feet inside, about 48 square feet, with 72 outside, for extra large dogs, two or three large dogs, or a whole litter of Chihuahuas. For a Great Dane or a Mastiff that is the right amount of floor. It costs $72 a night, and a second dog from the same home is $61.
Each run has a Kuranda bed and a blanket, which keeps a heavy body off the floor.
Breeds in the giant range
Weights are from each breed's AKC page.
Some of these breeds start under 100 pounds for females, so the scale decides.
| Breed | AKC weight |
|---|---|
| Great Pyrenees | 85 pounds and up |
| Bernese Mountain Dog | 70 to 115 pounds |
| Newfoundland | 100 to 150 pounds |
| Great Dane | 110 to 175 pounds |
| Saint Bernard | 120 to 180 pounds |
| Mastiff | 120 to 230 pounds |
The over 100 pound row
The bottom row of the 2024 bath chart covers dogs of any size over 100 pounds. Please ask to confirm today's price.
Giant breeds with thick coats, like a Newfoundland or a Saint Bernard, shed heavily.
| Weight | Extra short | Short | Medium | Extra long or double |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Over 100 pounds | $55 | $65 | $75 | $85 |
Joints, heat and rest
The AKC lists life expectancies of 7 to 10 years for a Great Dane, 6 to 10 for a Mastiff and 8 to 10 for a Saint Bernard, so many giant boarders are older and stiff. Tell us about arthritis and medications; they are given at no extra charge.
Heat is the other concern for a heavy, thick-coated dog. nearby Vacaville, the closest weather station, averages about 100 days a year at 90 degrees or higher, and the runs are air-conditioned in summer.
Food by the cup
Giant dogs eat a lot. House food is free, and your own food is welcome in its original bag with the amount written in cups.
Planning the stay
Giant dogs do best when the stay is simple. Upload vaccine records ahead of time, write the food amounts in cups, and tell the staff how your dog gets up and down on its bed. Seven nights in First Class is 7 x $72 = $504 on the 2026 rates; a stay of 14 nights or more drops to the reduced rate of $65 a night. Check-out is by 11:30 AM, and an afternoon pick-up is half of the nightly fee.
