Licking is a calm, repetitive activity, and a mat turns a few spoonfuls of spread into a longer, quieter project. That is why lick mats are popular for waiting times, new places and rest breaks after play.
Peanut butter or cheese
You choose the spread when you order. Pick peanut butter or cheese, and mention any allergy or sensitive stomach at the same time. If your dog has never had either, say so; staff would rather know than guess.

How lick mats relate to daily enrichment
California law asks every boarding kennel to give each pet daily enrichment (Health and Safety Code 122383(e)), so extras are never needed for a pet to be looked after. They are optional treats on top.

If your dog already knows a lick mat, the idea will be familiar. If not, a stay can be the first introduction, and you can tell staff how your dog usually eats: gently, quickly or with a lot of enthusiasm. The mat is simply a longer-lasting way to enjoy a spread, and it pairs well with a quiet rest after the yard. I love boarding my dog there because on vacation I know he'll be safe. Well treated heat and AC all is good. They send me photos of them and they're very very friendly staff. I highly recommend HAPPY PAWS to anyone.
Just picked up my pup Loki from a 4 day stay, the staff was extremely kind and helpful. We cannot be more happy with the level of care and pictures uploaded while we were away. Loki even got a bath before pick up! Which I highly recommend. We plan to use them whenever we have the need.
