The runs are air-conditioned inside and every dog can choose inside or out. Summer trips can run long, and three holiday windows in summer 2027 need deposits. Here are the numbers for heat and for the calendar. ## The heat, from NOAA Vacaville averages 28.4 days a year at 100 F or above, and about 10 of those are in July. **NOAA NCEI U.S. Climate Normals, Vacaville, about 8 miles from the kennel. No station sits in Dixon itself.** | Vacaville station, 1991-2020 normals | Average high | Days at 90 F or above | | --- | --- | --- | | June | 90.7 F | 15.9 | | July | 97.3 F | 27.1 | | August | 96.5 F | 25.3 | | September | 91.9 F | 19.1 | ## What the kennel does about it Each run has a doggie door to an outdoor area and an air-conditioned interior, and dogs see neighbors through the fence but have their own space. Cats stay in individual four-level condos. At check-in, please keep your pet in the car with the air conditioning running; a staff member carries belongings and walks your pet in. Pavement can be hot, so staff may scoop up a dog and hurry. See [hot pavement and paws](https://happypawskennels.com/guides/hot-pavement-and-paws/). ## Summer deposit windows, 2027 Each needs a 50% non-refundable deposit 30 days before drop-off. A summer trip between the windows has no holiday deposit unless it runs longer than four weeks. - Memorial Day: stays beginning May 24 to June 7 (closed Monday May 31) - July 4th: stays beginning June 27 to July 11 (closed Sunday July 4) - Labor Day: stays beginning August 30 to September 13 (closed Monday September 6) ## Pricing a two-week trip Two weeks (14 nights) for one dog in Business Class is 14 x $53, $742, at the long-term rate on the 2026 rates. Standard nightly price for a shorter stay is $59. Cat condos are $35 a night. See [the estimator](https://happypawskennels.com/tools/stay-cost-estimator/) for exact dates. ## Packing for a summer stay Bring your pet's own food in its original bag, any medications with written instructions and one toy that is not the favorite. Every run has a Kuranda bed and blankets, so a home bed is not needed. Because Happy Paws is a country kennel, dogs run through the field and play in the grass, and a bath for boarders can be arranged for a price based on size and coat; please ask. Remove metal pinch collars before check-in. ### Sources (checked October 19, 2026) - [NOAA NCEI U.S. Climate Normals 1991-2020, Vacaville](https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/data/normals-monthly/1991-2020/access/USC00049200.csv) - [Happy Paws Kennels 2026 rate sheet (PDF)](https://happypawskennels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/2026-Rates-EFFECTIVE-1-1-26.pdf) ### Before your first stay - [Vaccination records](https://happypawskennels.com/vaccination-requirements/) current through pick-up day - A signed [boarding agreement](https://happypawskennels.com/boarding-contract/) - Pets 16 weeks or older - [Bring nothing but your pet](https://happypawskennels.com/what-to-bring/) ### Visit or call 6677 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620 [707-678-6600](tel:+17076786600) | Drop-off and pick-up, every day | 7:30 to 11:30 AM and 2:00 to 5:00 PM | | --- | --- | | Tours, every day (no appointment) | 9:00 to 11:00 AM and 2:00 to 4:00 PM | [Book a stay](https://happypawskennels.propetware.com/customerLogin) ### Related - [Dixon heat & cold by month for dogs](https://happypawskennels.com/data/dixon-heat-and-cold-for-dogs/) - [How hot is too hot for dogs? They offers tours, have A/C and/or heat. They always look and smell super clean. They even filter the indoor air. They email pics of them playing. I have 2 large breeds that share a 1st class kennel. They even offer treats and baths. So nice to have a place I trust. Everyone is... Deanna M., Google review, July 2026 This place is fantastic! I have one super easy going dog and one that is very much the opposite, she takes a long time to be comfortable with strangers and can be aggressive. I chose Happy Paws originally because the dogs can go in and out without having to be put on a leash. I am so happy I made that decision. Now my...
