[Book a stay](https://happypawskennels.propetware.com/customerLogin)[Call 707-678-6600](tel:+17076786600) [Usually fits an Economy Class kennel $52 a night ยท 4 x 4 ft inside](https://happypawskennels.com/dog-boarding/economy-class-kennel/) - **Weight (AKC):** 25 to 30 lb - **Height (AKC):** 16.5 to 18 in - **Kennel:** Economy Class, 4 x 4 ft - **Per night:** $52 - **Bath (2024 chart):** $45 to $55 An Icelandic Sheepdog is a small-to-medium herder, 25 to 30 pounds and 16.5 to 18 inches by the AKC, with a dense Nordic double coat, so one fits an Economy kennel (4x4 ft, $52 a night on the 2026 rates). On the 2024 bath chart the Double Coated column is $45 at 16 to 25 pounds and $55 at 26 to 50. The AKC calls it Iceland's only native dog breed, a friendly, faithful herder devoted to its people. Light on the scale and heavy in the coat, an Icelandic is a dog for the thermostat. ## Economy is enough Females average 25 pounds and males 30, which makes the Icelandic a light dog. Economy gives about 16 square feet inside and 48 outside with a Kuranda bed and blankets. A pair from one home share for $52 and $44. ## Dense double coat The AKC lists a medium double coat with seasonal shedding. A 25 pound female is at the edge of two rows: $45 in the 16 to 25 row and $55 in the 26 to 50 row, both in the Extra Long or Double Coated column. A 30 pound male is $55. Please ask to confirm the price. ## Vocal herder The AKC lists a dog that likes to be vocal. A herding breed that reads everything, including a neighbor's arrival, may announce it. The runs are separate and dogs see neighbors through the fence. Walks are included, and the grass field is a place to circle and run. ## Summer plan Iceland is cool; Dixon is not. NOAA's Vacaville station records about 100 days a year at 90 degrees or more. The runs are air-conditioned in summer and the doggie door lets your dog choose. Winter is easy: the runs are heated. ## Records and a tour Rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella and canine influenza must be current; arrive flea and tick free, because a thick coat hides them. Tours run every day from 9 to 11 AM and 2 to 4 PM with no appointment. A weekend of 3 nights in Economy is 3 x $52 on the 2026 rates. ## Food and routine House food is free, or bring your own in its original bag with the amount in cups. Medications are given at no extra charge. Write down when your dog eats and how long a normal walk lasts. Leave your Icelandic in the car at check-in while staff carry the bag and walk your dog in. ### Sources (checked October 19, 2026) - [American Kennel Club - Icelandic Sheepdog breed page](https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/icelandic-sheepdog/) - [Happy Paws Kennels 2026 rate sheet (PDF)](https://happypawskennels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/2026-Rates-EFFECTIVE-1-1-26.pdf) - [Happy Paws Kennels bathing rates effective January 1, 2024](https://happypawskennels.com/rates/) - [NOAA NCEI U.S. Climate Normals 1991-2020](https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/data/normals-monthly/1991-2020/access/) ### 2026 nightly rates - First Class kennel $72 - Business Class kennel $59 - Economy Class kennel $52 - Cat condo $35 All-inclusive: food, medications and walks. 2026 rates, effective for reservations made on or after Jan 1, 2026.
