Kennel size follows weight: Business Class at $59 a night suits most, on the 2026 rates. [Book a stay](https://happypawskennels.propetware.com/customerLogin)[Call 707-678-6600](tel:+17076786600) A double coat has a soft undercoat under longer guard hairs. It is built for cold, and in a Dixon summer it is the thing to plan around. ## Breeds with a double coat The AKC lists these breeds with a double coat. Weights come from each breed's AKC page. Mixes of these breeds often inherit the coat. **Double-coated breeds and their AKC weights** | Breed | AKC weight | | --- | --- | | Keeshond | 35 to 45 pounds | | Siberian Husky | 35 to 60 pounds | | Chow Chow | 45 to 70 pounds | | Samoyed | 35 to 65 pounds | | German Shepherd | 50 to 90 pounds | | Alaskan Malamute | 75 to 85 pounds | | Great Pyrenees | 85 pounds and up | ## The last column of the bath chart The 2024 bath chart pairs weight with coat length, and the final column is for extra long or double-coated dogs. The chart gives Malamute or Husky as examples. Please ask to confirm today's price. A bath near the end of the stay takes out a lot of loose undercoat. **Bath chart effective January 1, 2024 (please ask to confirm)** | Weight | Double coat | | --- | --- | | 15 pounds or less | $35 | | 16 to 25 pounds | $45 | | 26 to 50 pounds | $55 | | 51 to 75 pounds | $65 | | 76 to 100 pounds | $75 | | Over 100 pounds | $85 | ## Heat in the Central Valley nearby Vacaville, the closest weather station, averages about 100 days a year at 90 degrees or higher, and about 28 at 100 or higher at the nearest weather station. A double coat holds heat, so the indoor run matters. The runs are air-conditioned in summer, and your dog chooses inside or out through the doggie door. In winter the runs are heated, and a double-coated dog may prefer the outdoor part on cool nights. ## Kennel size by weight Weight, not coat, decides the kennel. A Keeshond fits Economy at $52 a night. A Husky, Chow or Shepherd usually fits Business Class at $59. A Great Pyrenees may prefer First Class at $72. ## Brush before you come Brush your dog the day before drop-off to take out loose undercoat and mats. Tell the staff about any hot spots or skin problems, and list medications. ## Prices for a typical week A Husky in Business Class for seven nights is 7 x $59 = $413 on the 2026 rates. A Keeshond in Economy for the same week is 7 x $52 = $364. Stays of 14 nights or more get the reduced rate, $53 a night in Business Class and $47 in Economy. ### Sources (checked October 19, 2026) - [American Kennel Club - Siberian Husky breed page](https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/siberian-husky/) - [American Kennel Club - Alaskan Malamute breed page](https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/alaskan-malamute/) - [American Kennel Club - Samoyed breed page](https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/samoyed/) - [Happy Paws Kennels 2026 rate sheet (PDF)](https://happypawskennels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/2026-Rates-EFFECTIVE-1-1-26.pdf) - [Happy Paws Kennels bathing rates effective January 1, 2024](https://happypawskennels.com/rates/) - [NOAA NCEI U.S. Climate Normals 1991-2020](https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/data/normals-monthly/1991-2020/access/) ### 2026 nightly rates - First Class kennel $72 - Business Class kennel $59 - Economy Class kennel $52 - Cat condo $35 All-inclusive: food, medications and walks. 2026 rates, effective for reservations made on or after Jan 1, 2026.
