# Boarding a Persian cat

A Persian cat stays in its own four-level cattery tower at $35 a night on the 2026 rates. The Cat Fanciers' Association describes it as sweet, affectionate and quiet, with a long full coat and a short nose.

Persians are placid cats with a coat that needs daily attention. That, not behavior, is what decides how to prepare for a stay.

## A quiet cat for a quiet tower

The CFA calls the Persian playful yet placid, easygoing and mellow, and says it prefers to keep its feet on the ground rather than climb drapes. The tower has four levels, and a calm cat will likely use the lower ones. Each tower has its own litter box and blanket. One Persian is $35 a night on the 2026 rates.

## Size and build

The CFA describes the Persian as the cobby body type: solidly built with a broad chest, short heavy legs it likens to miniature tree trunks, a short plumed tail, small ears and large round eyes. A cobby cat does less climbing than a rangy one, so the lower shelves of the tower and the blanket will get most of the use.

## The coat is the main task

The CFA says owning a Persian calls for a serious commitment to coat care, and that a steel or Teflon-coated comb with long, coarse and fine teeth is essential for keeping mats and tangles away. A cat that arrives already matted is uncomfortable, so comb it thoroughly before drop-off and tell the staff about any problem areas. Bring the comb if you like.

## Eyes and the flat face

The CFA notes that the large eyes may stain and need to be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. The Persian head is round with a short nose. Tell us about any eye or breathing issue when you book, and list medications, which are given at no charge.

## What a stay costs

Four nights for one Persian is 4 x $35 = $140 on the 2026 rates. Two Persians from one home pay $35 plus $30 a night. Please mention any eye or breathing care when you book.

## Planning the stay

The towers keep each cat in its own space, and food is pate plus chicken-and-rice kibble, or your own food in the original bag. A Persian that has never boarded can try a day at $25. Rabies and FVRCP records must run through the last day of the stay.
