The Cat Fanciers' Association calls them people-oriented, affectionate Velcro kitties that follow their owners room to room. [Book a stay](https://happypawskennels.propetware.com/customerLogin)[Call 707-678-6600](tel:+17076786600) The CFA says Burmese are physically possessive of their people. The trick with a stay is to keep it short and give the cat a job. ## A Velcro cat in a tower The CFA says Burmese adore their people, follow them from room to room and seek out warm laps. When the lap is gone, the tower blanket is the next best thing. The tower has four levels, a litter box and a blanket for each cat. One Burmese is $35 a night on the 2026 rates, and cat day care is $25 for a trial. ## Size and build The CFA says the Burmese is sometimes compared to a small bulldog: a medium-size cat with substantial bone, excellent muscle and a surprising amount of weight for its size. The coat is very short, fine and glossy, with a satin finish. A mature male may reach or exceed 12 pounds. Burmese are fully grown at about 18 months. ## Compact with muscle The CFA says Burmese do not look large but are surprisingly heavy, with substantial bone and muscle. They stay playful and active well into old age. A play-minded cat likes the cat tree and a toy from home. ## Coat: brush weekly The CFA says Burmese are low-maintenance, with a sleek, fine coat that sheds minimally and should be brushed with a rubber brush each week. Do it before drop-off, and the cat is ready. ## What a stay costs Four nights for one Burmese is 4 x $35 = $140 on the 2026 rates. A second cat from the same home is 4 x $30 = $120. Cat day care is $25. ## Records and company Rabies and FVRCP must be current through the last day. Two Burmese from one home can share, and the second cat is $30 a night. Medications are given at no extra charge. Check-out is by 11:30 AM. ## Drop-off and pick-up Drop-off and pick-up are every day from 7:30 to 11:30 AM and 2:00 to 5:00 PM, with check-out by 11:30 AM. A cat that follows its people closely will want to see you at the door, so plan to arrive early in the window on pick-up day. ### Sources (checked October 19, 2026) - [Cat Fanciers' Association - Burmese breed profile](https://cfa.org/burmese/) - [Happy Paws Kennels 2026 rate sheet (PDF)](https://happypawskennels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/2026-Rates-EFFECTIVE-1-1-26.pdf) ### 2026 nightly rates - First Class kennel $72 - Business Class kennel $59 - Economy Class kennel $52 - Cat condo $35 All-inclusive: food, medications and walks. 2026 rates, effective for reservations made on or after Jan 1, 2026.
