The Cat Fanciers' Association calls the breed one of the easiest of all to groom. It calls the breed one of the easiest coats to care for, adding that towel-drying works in place of blow-drying and that an occasional bath helps with shedding. For a stay there is nothing special to prepare. ## An even-tempered house cat The CFA says Wirehairs are even-tempered and affectionate with the whole household, though they may pick a favorite person, and independent enough to be left alone during the day. They adapt easily to other pets and are gentle with children. That steady personality matches a cattery routine of set meal times and a quiet tower. ## Clever paws The CFA notes some Wirehairs are clever enough to open cabinets and drawers, and that they are athletic and enthusiastic once play starts, otherwise content to watch and supervise. Four tower levels let a watcher supervise from above. Tell the staff if your cat is a known escape artist at home so it is handled with care at the door. ## Medium to large build The body is medium to large, with males larger than females, according to the CFA. A bigger Wirehair will use the lower levels of the tower more, and the cat tree and cat houses in the cattery give extra options. One cat is $35 a night on the 2026 rates, a second cat from the same home is $30 a night, and a seven-night stay for one is 7 x $35 = $245. ## Health notes for the booking The CFA says there is no record of health problems characteristic to the breed and that breeders often screen with echocardiograms. If your cat has a heart condition or takes medication, say so when you book.
