Drive time is free-flow and runs slow on Midway Road; allow extra time. Rosemont is a large suburb where half the houses went up in the 1970s. That leaves many long-time owners and many older cats. ## Quick facts - About 44 minutes, 33.1 miles from Rosemont - Kiefer Boulevard, US 50 for 10.7 miles, I-80 - $35 a night, $30 for each additional cat sharing a tower (2026 rates) - Senior cats welcome in the towers ## A large suburb Rosemont has about 8,755 households and 23,766 residents. About 62 percent own their homes, 31 percent have children under 18 and the median home value is about $460,700. By the national share, about 2,810 households would have a cat, an estimate from Census and AVMA data, not a count of cats. Roughly 4,385 of its 9,016 housing units were built in the 1970s, so many households have had the same cat for many years. See the [senior cat page](https://happypawskennels.com/cat-boarding/senior-cat-boarding/). ## Kiefer Boulevard to Midway Road The route leaves on Kiefer Boulevard and runs 10.7 miles on US 50, 15.7 on Interstate 80 and 4.1 on Highway 113. It is 33.1 miles and about 44 minutes without traffic, 26.5 miles in a straight line. The afternoon window closes at 5:00 PM, so a commuter leaving work should add time for Interstate 80 traffic. ## Week and month costs A week is 7 x $35 = $245 on the 2026 rates. A 21-night summer trip is 21 x $35 = $735. For longer stays, see the [long-term cat boarding guide](https://happypawskennels.com/guides/cats/long-term-cat-boarding/). ## Medications Many older cats take daily medication. The cattery gives medications at no extra charge; the [medications page](https://happypawskennels.com/cat-boarding/medications-included/) explains what to bring. ## Booking from Rosemont Request your dates through Book / My Account, upload rabies and FVRCP records and sign the boarding agreement once. The kennel confirms every reservation, and payment is due at pick-up by cash, check, debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. Tours run every day, 9 to 11 AM and 2 to 4 PM. A first stay can feel big for an older cat. Ask for a tour first, bring the vaccine records on paper or upload them, and plan the first stay as a short one, such as 3 nights at 3 x $35 = $105 on the 2026 rates, before a longer trip. ### Sources (checked October 19, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau ACS 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://api.census.gov/data/2024/acs/acs5) - [AVMA 2024 pet ownership shares](https://www.avma.org/news/pet-population-continues-increase-while-pet-spending-declines) - [Happy Paws Kennels 2026 rate sheet (PDF)](https://happypawskennels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/2026-Rates-EFFECTIVE-1-1-26.pdf) ### 2026 nightly rates - First Class kennel $72 - Business Class kennel $59 - Economy Class kennel $52 - Cat condo $35 All-inclusive: food, medications and walks. 2026 rates, effective for reservations made on or after Jan 1, 2026. We cannot be more happy with the level of care and pictures uploaded while we were away. Loki even got a bath before pick up! Which I highly recommend. We plan to use them whenever we have the need. Kevin G., Google review, January 2026 I love their great caring team. Highly recommended.
