## Quick facts

- About 30 miles and 40 minutes by free-flow routing
- Starts on Fruitridge Road and 44th Street
- About 51 percent of households have children
- Economy run from $52 a night on the 2026 rates

## Getting out of Lemon Hill

The route starts on Golden State Highway, Fruitridge Road and 44th Street, joins US 50 for about 5 miles, then takes I-80 west for about 16 miles and Highway 113 south for about 4 miles to Midway Road. Total 29.8 miles, 20.6 as the crow flies.

The free-flow time is about 40 minutes. Midway is a slow country road, so add a few minutes at the end.

## A neighborhood of kids and renters

The Census counts about 15,300 people in about 4,500 households. About 51 percent of those households have children under 18, well above the county norm, and about 60 percent of homes are rented. The median home dates from 1964, and the median household income is about $48,800.

AVMA ownership shares suggest roughly 2,000 dog homes and 1,400 cat homes. That is an estimate. It tells us the typical Lemon Hill pet is a family animal that a lot of people care about, left behind when everyone travels.

## Choosing a run size on a budget

Economy is $52 a night for one dog, and the second dog sharing the run is $44. For small and medium dogs from the same home, that is often the best fit. A seven-night stay for one dog is 7 x $52 = $364 on the 2026 rates.

Stays of 14 nights or more drop to $47 a night in Economy. Use the [stay cost estimator](https://happypawskennels.com/tools/stay-cost-estimator/) to price your exact dates.

## Cats from Lemon Hill

Cats stay in their own four-level condo with a litter box and blanket, at $35 a night. A second cat from the same home who shares the condo is $30. See [stays for two or more cats](https://happypawskennels.com/cat-boarding/multi-cat-stays/).

## Holiday weeks

Stays that begin within 7 days before or after a major holiday carry a 50 percent non-refundable deposit 30 days ahead; canceling 7 or more days before drop-off turns the deposit into account credit. Please call 707-678-6600 to confirm. See [holiday boarding](https://happypawskennels.com/dog-boarding/holiday-boarding/).

I love boarding my dog there because on vacation I know he'll be safe. Well treated heat and AC all is good. They send me photos of them and they're very very friendly staff. I highly recommend HAPPY PAWS to anyone.

Marc B., Google review, August 2026

I love this place and so do the dogs. They offers tours, have A/C and/or heat. They always look and smell super clean. They even filter the indoor air. They email pics of them playing. I have 2 large breeds that share a 1st class kennel. They even offer treats and baths. So nice to have a place I trust. Everyone is...
