Drive time is free-flow and runs slow on Midway Road; allow extra time. El Macero is a quiet, mostly owner-occupied community, and its households change little from year to year. Here is what a stay looks like for a cat from there. ## Quick facts - About 21 minutes, 14.4 miles from El Macero - Interstate 80 for 8.7 miles, Highway 113 for 4.1 - $35 a night, $30 for each additional cat sharing a tower (2026 rates) - Records good through the last day ## A small, settled community El Macero has about 360 households and 796 residents, with a median age of 64. About 95 percent of homes are owner-occupied and the median home value is about $1,296,900. The national share points to about 120 households with a cat. That is an estimate from Census and AVMA data, not a count of cats. Fewer than 9 percent of residents moved in the past year. These households tend to have had the same cat for years, which makes the senior-cat details worth a look. ## Two highways and a short finish The route takes 8.7 miles of Interstate 80 and 4.1 of Highway 113, with a short country-road finish. The trip is 14.4 miles and about 21 minutes without traffic. The 7:30 to 11:30 AM drop-off window pairs well with a morning flight or a trip to the airport; the afternoon window runs 2:00 to 5:00 PM. ## Longer trips Owners here often travel for weeks. Ten nights is 10 x $35 = $350 on the 2026 rates; a month of 30 nights is 30 x $35 = $1,050. There is no separate long-term cat rate on the sheet. Boarding is charged by the night, and the [long-term cat boarding guide](https://happypawskennels.com/guides/cats/long-term-cat-boarding/) explains how longer stays work. ## Medications and older cats Medications are given at no extra charge, which suits cats who need daily pills. The [senior cat page](https://happypawskennels.com/cat-boarding/senior-cat-boarding/) and the [cat vaccine guide](https://happypawskennels.com/vaccines/cat-vaccines-for-boarding/) cover the rest. ## Booking from El Macero Request the dates through Book / My Account, upload the records and sign the boarding agreement once. I have one super easy going dog and one that is very much the opposite, she takes a long time to be comfortable with strangers and can be aggressive. I chose Happy Paws originally because the dogs can go in and out without having to be put on a leash. I am so happy I made that decision. Now my...
